SATURDAY’S RESULTS Wanganui Bowling Centre activities I on Saturday included the annual , tournament for the Gordon Pairs ! title. This was played on the Wan- ' ganui green and resulted in a win for i I. Fleming and W. G. Herd, of the St. . John's Club. This is Herd’s second win, at intervals, of this trophy. A strong, gusty wind made play difficult al times. At the conclusion of play Mr. W. J. Stone, president of the Wanganui Bowling Centre, presented the trophy and complimented the winners and runners-up. The two pairs from Ohakune, the | only outsiders, are to be highly com- , mended in coming such a distance to i take part, while S. Thomas and his partner. In the final, which was between I Herd and Mailman, the former, on the • 18th was 14-2. On the 10th Mailman secured four., making the score 14-7 against him. On the 14th when the score stood 16-9 against him Mailman had every prospec; of making up leeway, but 1 tri d. wit h his ! w. came into second place. From then on Herd did most of the scoring and finished up with 14 points to the good. The last two ends of the game were j not played.
