WARDEN ASSAULTED

Wellington, March 13. A fine of £1 was imnosed upon Clifford Wilmot Ross, who pleaded guilty in the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court vesterdav to a charge of assaulting an E.P.S. warden when ho called at Ross’ home in Knight's Road, 1.0v.0r Hutt, on February 27. In a written statement to the police Ross said that ho was in the hath when the wardens called lo complain about the bathroom iieht which was not blacked out. He wont outside only half-clad and with a towel, and told the wardens “to get to hell out of it." One of the wardens look a step toward Ross, who struck him on the jaw. Ross did not wail to see the consequences. Counsel for the accused "'id that Ross had had a few drinks which would explain the irrational action that had been taken. ,
