AGAINST SWEDEN

GERMAN PRESS AND RADIO CAMPAIGN POSSIBLY PRELUDE TO OPEN WARFARE (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Reed. 11.40 p.m.) London. March 10. The ’’German Press and radio ton days ago opened a verbal warfare against Sweden, which they have since violently pursued. Neutral observers are recalling that German nerve warfare has frequently preceded physical warfare, and consequently they are discussing the possibility of Hitler moving against. Sweden before he opens his spring offensive elsewhere. Those discussions are linked up with rumours current, throughout Europe that the Allies plan to invade Norway, Whereupon Germany will demand right-of-way for troops through Sweden. Th? German Press says Sweden is not pro-Germa<i and alleges that a report emanated from Stockholm that Finland will conclude a separate peace with Russia and also a military agreement with Sweden after which Germany will be asked to withdraw from Norway. Tffe German radio has now joined in the tirade, saying: “Sweden must not think she can behave as she like.towards Norway and Finland.” Sweden’s not insignificant naw may afford a clue to Germany’s possible designs against Sweden. From the outbreak to yesterday Swedish shipyards delivered 68 craft of various categories. including destroyers and submarines. In addition several warships were purchased abroad. SWEDEN AND FINLAND (Recd. 11.10 p.m.) London, March 10. A member of the Swedish Legation in London denied that Swedish-Fin-nish economic relations had been broken off. He added Ihat negotiations for trade agreement, which had heen in progress for some time, were temporarily’suspended to enable the Finnish delegates to return home for instructions.
