KING’S COUNSEL PROMOTED
LIEUT.-COLONEL P. B. COOKE COLLEGIATE SCHOOL OLD 801 Mr. P. B. Cooke. K.C., of Wellington. and an old boy of the Wangamr Collegiate School, is one of several new lieutenant-colonels whose promotion is announced in the New Zealand Gazette. He held an appointment lor some time on the Temporary Staff as captain, acting-major. He served in the last war from 191 a to 1918. leaving New Zealand as a second-lieutenant in the New Zealand Divisional Signal Company and later reaching the temporary rank of major. He was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry. When he took silk in 1936 at the age of 42 he was the youngest barrister in the Dominion to have earned such a distinction. He attended Wanganui Collegiate School from 1906 to 1910, and was a prefect in his last two years there.
