BRIDE’S ORDEAL
Svdncv. March 5. A bridal party at Bandoeng was on route lo the registrar of marriages when an alert sounded, writes a Java correspondent of the Sydney Morning Herald. They rushed into a large public refuge, where hundreds of shelterers cheered as the bride in a long white gown and veil, descended the steps, followed by bridesmaids, and a little Hower girl. As the alarm lasted for more than an hour, however, the spirits of the bridal parlv gradually lowered. At the all clear, they hurried out with relieved faces. Five minutes later thev wore back when a new alert sounded. This time thev wore followed bv the registrar of marriages, and the ceremony proceeded. Flower uirls showered blossoms on the coupß as they sat on benches in the shelter.
