WELLINGTON CLUB TWO-DAY SUMMER FIXTURE i CUP STAKE WILL BE £2500 .(Press Assn.) Wellington, Dec. 18. ' The Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting, which was to have been a three-day fixture will, in conformity 'with the Government’s announced I programme with regard to racing, be I reduced to tw o days. The two days (will be Anniversary Day. January 22. and Saturday. January 24. The club ’also makes the proviso that, if AnniI versa ry Day is not to be regarded as ’a public holiday the meeting will be .held on Saturday. January 17. and (Saturday. January 24. I The programme will be as for the 'first two days as already published in the oHi( ?! programme, the third day being eliminated. It is also felt that, under the circumstances and with the profits going to the Patriotic Fund, a prize of £3500 for the Wellington Cup is excessive. While desiring to keep faith with owners and trainers, the chin’s officials feel that all will agree with their decision to reduce the stake to £2500. TROTTING ASSOCIATION OFFER OF CO-OPERATION TO GOVERNMENT Support for any emergency action taken by the Government relating to racing is offered in a letter sent yesterday by Mr. H. F.
