RANGIWAEA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
Members of the Rangiwaea Women's Institute met on December 10, having first visited the Ohakura school chil-1 dren's calf and pet lamb show, which did much credit to the children. Judges and children were invited to lunch at the hall by members of the institute. The meeting was then proceded with, members and visitors being welcomed by the president. Correspondence was received and read re the gathering ol ergot. An interesting demonstration on making macrame and silk belts was given by Miss C. Bayne, who was accorded a vote of thanks. Also enjoyed was the golden thread talk on Christmas customs in other countries. "Something 1 have never done in public" was part of the entertainment for the social half-hour, which caused much amusement. Afternoon tea was served. Competition results were: Premier flower. Mrs. D. Bell 1, with a choice sweet pea: bowl of roses. Mrs. D. Bell 1. Mrs. McCann 2, Miss C.‘ Bell 3; Christmas present not costing more than 2s 6d, Mrs. Speedy 1, Mrs. Garmonsway 2. Following the usual custom there will be no meeting in January.
