The Germans are certain to continue the light and it will not be an easy task to subdue them. It will depend not only on overcoming the Germans’ resistance, but in our ability to hold them, despite our lengthening communications, which will be subject to constant air attack. How ever, the prospects of decisive victory are probably better than at any previous time. Major-General Ritchie has been promoted to the rank of acting-Lieuten-ant-General.
