ECONOMIC CRISIS
“The Canadian and American Governments have passed legislation which will, in effect, stop buying on the instalment or time-payment plan. Actually this modern idea is a device to lure people into debt,” said the Rev. Robertson Orr last night. “If there were no profit for the big companies; no protit out of interest and overhead charges, there would be no time-payment plan. Some thought that this legislation was aimed at preventing people spending on luxuries what the Government wanted in war savings. The Governments of all countries see ahead another vast economic crisis and they are taking steps to minimise its effect. Debt, he concluded, would not exist if the Bible Commandments were obeyed. The Rev. Ort's final lecture will be in the Savage Club Hall to-night at 8 p.nt.
