CHRISTMAS AND BOXING DAY I‘KIME MINISTER S STATEMENT. (Press Assn > Wellington. Dec. 16. The limitation on holidays to be obserxeil at the holiday season by firms engaged in the production of war supplies xxas ammaneed to-night by the lion. P. Flaser. Holidays will be restricted to Christmas Day and Boxing Day. but in • rtain cases firms will probably l>e required to xxork on Boxing Dax. Mr. Fraser's statement is as follows: "To meet the existing emergency and to provide m nitions and equipment essential to nee of the country. the War Cabinet has decided to issue instructions that all factories and v engaged in the production of munitions and commodities required for the prosecution of the war and the defence of lhe country ahall limit holidays to Christmas Day and Boxing Day and shall resume operations not later I han Monday. December 29. Certain works engaged in the production of vitally necessary militarx supplies max. i>l probablx will, he required to open on Boxing Day. In this connection J xxould like to quote the inspiring exam hy the management and staff of he Colonial Ammunition Company, who have responded to th.’ urgent need of the country in this grave moment by agreeing to xvork every day except. Christmas Dax during the holiday season." The Prime Minister also announced that regulations xvere to be gazetted on the leeoinniendatiou of the Industnal Ellie:geiuy Council, providing fol t lie obsei \ ance of holidays prescribed in any Act or agreement to be postponed or payment made in lieu of the holiday.
