TAXI AND TRAIN COLLIDE
TWO PERSONS INJURED A.MBI LANCE ARRIVES FRO4IPTIA , Serious injuries were received by two men when a taxi was struck by an outward bound train on the Guytun Street Extension railway crossing. Wanganui, about 10.40 a.m. yesterday. Those injured were: Charles Hill Fraser, taxi driver. Boydfield Street; broken ribs and back 1 injury. Thomas Coutt. porter at the Patea Hospital, and passenger in the taxi, fractured arm and leg. serious inI cisive wound, and head injuries. The Wanganui Free Ambulance i under Transport Officer D. E. Gullery ‘ and a member of the women’s I auxiliary staff, attended the injured. ! who were taken to the Public Hos- ■ pital within ten minutes of the acci- ’ dent. On inquiry at the hospital last night both men were reported to be on the serious list. At ttie limp of the accident Mr. Coutt was on his way to the hospital ‘ for X-ray examination.
