RACING AT OTAKI

SUMMER MEETING FIELDS

PROSPECTS FOR TO-DAY

Providing the final opportunity for a run in public for horses engaged at the midsummer holiday fixtures, the Otaki Maori Racing Club's summer meeting to-day' has a good deal of importance for form followers. The meeting, however, is likely to be adversely affected by the war situation, and petrol and other restrictions will be factors that may also affect the attendance. Win-and-place betting will operate. The principal event, the Rere Nelktini Memorial, will give Globe Trotter a chance to make amends for his Feilding defeat, and in view of his Ellerslie engagements his form will be of interest. Siglow, Piastre and Talenta may be his most dangerous opponents. The sprinters will have the sevenfurlong Waiorongomai Handicap as their objective. Black Thread ran good races over this distance at Feilding and he should he the favourite. Enrich. Night Eruption and Wings of Song may also be prominent. Other events have filled well, and there should be some interesting racing. The following may appeal:— Puketoi Highweight.—Hagen. Master Lackham. Pukekaraka Hack.—Lady Derby. Lord Defoe. Sandy Bay. Rere Nekitini Memorial. Globe Trotter. Siglow. Piastre. Manuao Maiden—Oragon. Trekalong. Otaki Hack.-Triple Crown. Legal, Flying Hawk. Waiorongamai Handicap. Black Thread, Enr\h. Wings of Song. Rahui Hack.—The Camp, Maharajah. Arachne. Rekereke Hack. - Soutane. Croupisino. Dungloe. Following are the acceptors:— 12.0
