FURTHER RESTRICTIONS BEACH COTTAGES AFFECTED. The entry of Japan into the war has given more serious significance to safety precautions in New Zealand and further emergency lighting restrictions have heen announced by the Dominion Lighting Controller. Mr. F. T. M. Kissel. Wellington. The new restrictions apply to the whole of Wanganui city and suburban area, and are apart from the instructions issued for the blackout to-morrow night.

In areas not directly visible from the open sea. every room lighted at night must have window blinds, curtains, or other suitable material fully drawn over each window and fanlight. This applies to all dwelling.; within the city boundary. Lights in shops, shop windows, offices, public buildings, private buildings. houses, and elsewhere, are not to be left burning on time-switch control When there is no one in attendance or residence, all lights are to be switched off.

Owners of any seaside abode at Castleciiff, Kai Iwi, or elsewhere along the coast, rented, in whole or in part, to other persons, are required, before giving possession, or before Monday, to fit windows, fanlights, skylights, or glazed doors with screens or blinds complying with the Light Restrictions Emergency Regulations. No vehicle may he parked with lights visible io the open sea. A vehicle may park without lights on a roadway provided it is sufficiently close to a street light so that its position in the roadway is clearly visible for a distance of 150 feet. If it is not possible to park without lights the vehicle must park elsewhere in an area not visible from the open sea.
