EARLIER PAYMENT OF PENSIONS
AVAILABLE FOR CHRISTMAS (Press Assn.) Wellington, Dec. 11. To enable war pensioners and socia: security beneficiaries to receive their pensions and benefits in time for Christmas, it has been decided to authorise the payment to begin earlier than usual this month. The Minister in Charge of Social Security. Hon. W. E. Parry, said tonight that war pensions, war veterans' allowances and all social security benefits, other than sickness and unemployment benefits, would be available for collection on or after December 19. Age benefits would be available one day earlier, and would, therefore, be paid from, and including. December 18. Unemployment and sickness benefits for the weeks ending December 20 and December 27 and January 3. 1942. would be paid in one amount in the week ending December 20.
