SOMME PARADE
Sir. We hear a lot about the beautlu at ion work being carried out at Virginia Lake, the approaches ro Dublin Street Bridge, and the Wanganui East Esplanade, ail of which looks very pleasing to the eye. but tiie town side of the river bank, traversed by hundreds daily, is an absolute disgrace to our city. Why this neglect? The grass is near five feet high and the various seats placed along the bank are almost hidden. Because of this growth it is impossible between Guyton an i Ingestre Streets, for one to get a glimpse of the river from the footpath. It ;> to be hoped the authorities will take action oefore Christmas to clear up this unsightly stale of affairs. — 1 am. etc.. •RATEPAYER.
