ATTACKS ON GERMANS IN FRANCE

VICHY GOVERNMENT TO ACT EMERGENCY MEASURES (Recd. 11.10 p.m.i London, Dec. 9 The Vichy radio stated that the National Council has issued the following statement: ■'The French Government has decided immediately to introduce emergency measures designed to lead to the discovery of those responsible for assaults on German occupation troops and also direct and indirect instigators. It has been ascertained that Jews, foreigners and Communists are involved, also Spanish Tchekaites. who have been dropped in France by parachute.

"It has been decided that all Jews who have entered France since January 1. 1936. shall be placed in concentration camps or otherwise taken into custody. “A total of 1850 Communists were arrested in the last few days in unoccupied France. The arrest of Communists will continue and foreigners suspected of participation in the organisation and commitment of assults will he tried by court-martial, and. if convicted, will be sentenced to death.”

Tommy guns are being used to shoot the Germans in Paris streets says the Daily Mall’s Madrid correspondent. Shots were tired from a street corner at a patrol searching for curfew breakers on Monday night. Two Germans were killed and the remainder fired back, but the assailants escaped.

Further bombing incidents occurred in Paris last week. As a result of military disorganisation since the disasters of last year, enormous quantities of tommy guns, machine-guns and grenades were hidden throughout the country. The Germans fear that when the first German defeats become known, hidden arms will be used against them. More than 150 were executed since the latest outbreak of attacks on the Germans.
