RESTRICTED LIGHTING
NEW REGULATIONS ARE TO BE OBSERVED OPERATIVE THIS WEEK (Press Assn J Wellington. Dec. 11. Further emergency lighting restrictions. which come into force at 6 p.m on Friday, are announced by the chairman of the central executive oi the Wellington Emergency Precautions organisation. Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, under the direction of the Dominion Lighting Controller. The use of decorative lighting, such as festoon strings and other special coloured display lighting in shops, shop windows. and elsewhere is prohibited. Lghts in shops, shop windows, offices, public buildings, private buildings, houses and elsewhere are not to be left burnng on time switch control.
When, or where, there is no one in attendance or residence all lights arc to he turned off. In areas directly visible from the open sea, every room lighted at nighi must have window . curtains or oth i suitable material. fully drawn over each window and fanlight. Owners of any seaside abode rented in whole or in part, to other persons are required before giving possession. or before December 15. to fit the windows, fanlights, skyligh’s or glazed doors with screens or blinds, complying with lighting restrictions and emergency regulations No vehicle may be parked with lights visible to the open sea. A vehicle may park without lights on a roadway, provided it is sufficiently close to a street light, so that its position in the roadway is clearly visible at a distance of 150 feet. If it is not possible to park without lights the vehicle must park elsewhere in an area not visible from the open sea.
