BLACKOUT IN WANGANUI
yiiE blackout will be enforced in Wanganui on Sunday night
This is no game, but a serious business; and it is to be expected that everyone will eo-operate in screening all lights for the period required. The authorities are to be commended for engaging in this exercise, for it is only by actual practice that the problems involved in the complete cessation of the general use of artificial light can be appreciated and dealt with. It is to be hoped that there will be no stupid refractory conduct, and if there is that the authorities will not hesitate to use the disciplinary powers which are vested in them to enforce compliance with the precautionary measures put into operation. No man may know the hour when the blackout may have to he ordered to assist in the safety of the community, and that hour may strike soon.
