R N.V.R and volunteer air force have also ne* n called up by proclamation. An uihiial stated that the proclamation uut * nut signify an immediate deterioration of the posit.on and is merely a precautionary measure, to be instituted, step by step. Major-General Sir Anthony Percival British Cummander in Malaya, is cutting short his visit to Sarawak. He flew there last week and is returning to Singapore to-day. Meanwhile forces are remaining alert. Guards are stationed at Government offices and key points.— U.P.A.
