RESULT OF Fi.iSf AP?RAISAL £180,854 REALISED Gross proceeds from the first Wanganui wool appraisal of the current season amount to £180,854 19s sd, and prompt dale has been fixed at Saturday. Decern ner 6. The appraisal was held on November 21, and according Io figures made available yesterday, the total number of bales disposed of was Ju,016. The £180,855 realised resulted in an average price ot £lB a hale. The average price a lb. was 12.169 d. At the first apprasial held in Wanganui at the beginning of last season, 11,925 bales were disposed of and the gross proceeds totalled £217.841 17s The average price a lb. was 12.189 d. The larger quantity of wool valued at the first Wanganui appraisal last season was due mainly to the weather being more favourable for shearing operations. The usual 5 per cent, of the proceeds from the appraisal on November 21 will be held back by the Marketing Department to meet contingencies over the two seasons under which the commandeer has been operating. Growers, however, have ultimately been paid the full retention money. The next Wanganui appraisal will begin on Tuesday. December 16. Wool for this appraisement is already arriving at city stores, b\ shearing has again been interrupted by broken weather. Provided the weather remains fine during the next two weeks, however, the offering at the second Wanganui appraisal will probably be larger than the first.
