£10?,390 DROP IN JULY The total value represented by building permits issued in the larger centres during July was £769,953, a decrease of £102,390 below the total for June. The value of alterations and additions to existing buildings (£117,917) showed a decrease of £21.915, new dwellings (£463,158), an increase of £78,662, and other new buildings (£188,878), a decrease of £159,137. The value represented by the three classes in July, 1940, were: Alterations and additions to existing buildings, £130,797; new dwellings, £478,561, and other new buildings £199.684. The number of new dwelling permits included in the statistics for July, 1941, was 468, of which 235 were in respect of houses commenced by the housing construction branch of the State Advances Corporation. Comparative figures for June were 362 for all dwellings, and 178 for the housing construction branch..
