MAKIRIKIRI WOMEN S INSTITUTE

At the September meeting of the Makirikiri Women's Institute the president, Mrs. Crowley, welcomed a fair attendance of members and a visitor. There was very little business to be dealt with. Mrs. Nagel and Mrs. Vercoe were appointed delegates to the half-yearly council meeting to be held in October. Wool was issued to members to be knitted up for soldiers’ comforts. Mrs. Caseley, the secretary, kindly demonstrated the making of sticky fly papers. The results of the competitions were: A bowl of spring flowers, Mrs. Thomas 1, Mrs. Clemance 2 and Mrs. Howard 3; best bloom, Mrs. Clemance 1 and 2, Mrs. Ted Farley 3.
