The story of -‘Raffles" opens in London, with our hero continuing to baffle Inspector MacKenzie of Scotland Yard with his spectacular robberies. Raffles, however, decides to turn over a new leaf and to give up nis secret life of crime when he becomes engaged to Gwen Manders, played by lovely Olivia de Havilland. Ironically, however, it is just at this time that he furnished the yard with its first clue. Most of the action of “Rallies” unwinds on the beautiful country estate of Lady Melrose, where the action grows faster and faster, with the detective and gentleman crook playing an exciting game of wits. It is on this estate also, that a cricket game is presented, and these sequences are magnificently done, with photography that is near perfection and unusuai camera angles that leave the spectator breathless. Included in the supports is the latest of the popular “March of Time” series entitled "Australia at War” —very topical and near at home to us.
