WANGANUI NAVY LEAGUE SENDS PARCELS COMFORTS AND SOCKS INCLUDED A large case of. woollen comforts was despatched during July to the trawler Preston North End by the Wanganui Navy League. The Preston North End is a trawler engaged on mine-sweeping operations and has been “adopted” by the Navy League branch in Wanganui. Parcels of socks and other comforts have also been despatched to H.M.S. Leander, this completing the despatch of the second instalment of parcels to each of the 75 Wanganui boys serving with the Navy. During July four boys left Wanganui for service with the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy. Prior to their departure they were fully equipped with their requirements. A parcel has also been made available for a member of the Fleet Air Arm who is a prisoner of war.
