EGYPTIAN COTTON CROPS
ARRANGEMENT FOR PURCHASE HALF EACH FOR BRITAIN AND EGYPT (Recd. 5.40 p.m.) Cairo. Aug. 12. The Premier, in the Chamber, stated that an agreement had been reached under which the British and Egyptian Governments will jointly purchase the Egyptian cotton crop in equal quantities at the same prices as last year, when Britain purchased the whole crop. A £15,000,000 internal loan is being raised to finance Egypt’s share of the purchase. Britain would return 50 per cent of anv profits arising from the transaction to growers. Egypt would return all profits. Britain has also offered to purchase iliout nail the cotton seed crop at a ■ffiee .if ten piastres below last years. Government is making up difference to growers.—U.P.A.
