ARAMOHO MEMBERS MEET “Your courage, your cheerfulness, your resolutions will bring us victory," was the motto for the month at the August meeting of the Aramoho Women's Institute, presided over by Mrs. H. Harman (vice-president). Three new members were enrolled and one admitted by transfer. Sympathy was expressed with the family of the late Mrs. W. F. Hanton, who had been a keen and active member of the Institute. As it was the sewing circle afternoon the roll call, “A Stitch in Time Saves Nine.” was most appropriate. The speaker for the afterr.cen was Mrs. W. Lambert, who took "The Epic of Countrywomen” as her subject and also spoke on the bombing of St. Paul's Cathedral. Mrs. W. Gaston gave a demonstration or. smocking and had some dainty garments on display. Sloulun sprays were presented to Mrs. i.ambert, Mrs. Gaston and Mrs. Harman They were made by members of the Gardening Circle. The proceeds of >.h "bring and buy" stall, in charge or Mesdames Wells and Uttley, were for parcels for members’ sons in the forces. The Gardening Circle donated £1 toward this fund. Members were reminded of the P'.’iiua appeal next month and also that September w’ll be members’ iticnlh. Mrs. Gray was elected president and Mrs. Litchfield secretary fur that meeting. The competition table for sponge cakes, carroway seed biscuits and tea cosies was in charge of Mesdames E. Stewart and Ansell. Mrs. Hodges judged the cooking and her awards were: Mrs. Benefield 1, Mrs. Gray 2; carroway seed biscuits, Mrs. Caiman 1. Mrs. Goss, junr., judged the tea cosies and placed Mrs. Jackson first. A soldier's parcel competition was won by Miss Alice Lilley.
