OLD POST OFFICE
ALTERATIONS PLANNED AdOM.MODATION FOR STATE DEPARTMENTS. Fairly extensive alterations are to be made to the old post office building in Wanganui, and the work of remodelling and renovating the building will be undertaken by the Public Works Department, starting almost immediately. When the alterations are completed the building will be taken over as accommodation for several Slate departments which arc al present in leased premises throughout the city. The building was vacated by Post and Telegraph Department. early in December. 1940, and since then it has ■ been used on occasion for activities in connection with the patriotic queen carnival. The housing of many of the State departments scattered throughout the city in one building with such a central situation as the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Ridgway Street will be welcomed by k the business community. r
