CHUNGKING BOMBED
140 JAPANESE PLANES (Recd. 6.30 p.m.) Chungking, Aug. 8. Flying over in two waves. 140 Japanese planes to-day bombed Chungking. A bomb explosion near a waterfront, dugout killed 15 Chinese and injured a score. The raiders flew over the safety zone but did not drop any bombs.—U.P.A.
