KaETIHI SALE REPORT Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., report on their Raetihi sale, held on Thursday, July 17, as follows:—We offered 2400 sheep and over 200 head of cattle to a very large attendance. It was evident, that a great deal of interest was being shown in the live stock market by visiting buyers from Waikato in the north, to as far south as Feilding. Competition on both sheep and cattle was keen and sustained throughout; a very satisfactory sale resulted. The specially advertised entry of a complete flock on account, of the Symes Estate realised very satisfactory prices: Two-tooth ewes, 31s lOd; 4-tooth. 31s 7d; 6-tooth, 31s 6d; -1year, 25s Id. All these ewes were mated to Romney rams. The 2 and 1tooth wethers made 22s lOd. Prices for the balance of the sheep entry were as follows: Two-tooth wethers 21s LOcl; medium 2-tooth ewes b.r. S.D. rams, 28s; 4-tooth ditto, 27s 4d: good 4- ewes b.r. Romney rams, 25s 7d: 5- ewes b.r. Romney rams, 21s 6d; good mixed age ewes, 2-tooth to 4year b.r. Romney rams, 31s 6d; 6year ewes b.r. Romney rams, 18s; good ewe hoggets, 27s lOd, 27s 6d, 26s 9d; medium. 245; goad wether hoggets, 19s id. 18s lOd; medium and smaller sorts, 15s Sd, 15s 6d, 15s sd, 14s 9d.

The quality of the entile entry was generally poor. Prices realised must therefore be regarded as excellent: We quote:—Three-year steers, £7 14s, £7 12s 6d; 21-year P.A.. £8 Is; 20ntonlh P.A. steers. £6 14s; P.A. heifers b.r. bull, £5 17s 6d; fat Jersey bullocks, £9 Ils; light, fat heifers, £7; fat P.A. cows (light), £7; forward cows, £6 3s; poor quality, run bred cows b.r. bull, £4 4s; cows and calves, £4.
