WANGANUI RUGBY UNION

FORTNIGHTLf MEETING MANAWATU MATCH CONFIRMED The Management Committee of the Wanganui Rugby Union met last night. Mt. J. Moye presided. Also present were Messrs. A. Takarangi, W. Deerness, C. Stewart, 11. Whiting, T. Latham, M. Stewart, E. O'Hafloran, J. Ward, W. McElwain. C. Ryan (treasurer), and the secretary, Mrs. J. Brisco. Manawatu Rugby Union wrote offering Saturday, June 21 as a date for the annual representative match at Wanganui. It was pointed out that this was a good opportunity for them as. on that day, the annual game between Te Aute College and Palmerston North High School was set down to be played and all club games were suspended. On the motion of Mr. C. Stewart, seconded by Mr. W. Deerness, it was decided to play the first of the annual home-and-away game against Manawatu on the date suggested. The date was confirmed with Manawatu by telephone last evening. Passes to Spriggens Park which had been issued to clubs and which, were not being used are to be returned to the secretary. The New Zealand Rugby Union advised that the application for reinstatement of Rangi Chase (Taihape) had been considered and declined. Taranaki Rugby Union wrote that July 26 was unsuitable for the annual return match and suggested August 9 as a suitable date. After discussion it was decided that August 9 be accepted.

It was reported that the Wanganui Rugby Union's share of the gate at the annual Taranaki match on June 3 was £93 14s.

The secretary was instructed to write to the Rangitikei Rugby Union suggesting Saturday, August 9, as the date for the return game between the two unions. After discussion it was decided to play a senior B club fixture as a cur-tain-raiser to the Manawatu representative game. Discussion arose in regard to the indistinct numbering of the jerseys of the Wanganui representative fifteen and the secretary was instructed to secure a set of new numbers.
