GERMANS IN THE DARK
BRITISH NAVAL LOSSES CLAIMS ARE “WILDLY EXAGGERATED” (Recd. 6.40 p.m.) London, May 27. The Daily Mail, quoting the Admiralty, says the Germans do not know what their bombing ot the Mediterranean fleet has achieved. They hope, by repeated and extravagant claims, to goad the Admiralty into revealing the information they want. Some losses in Crete are inevitable, but the public can help the Navy by disregarding Axis claims until the British story can be told without helping the enemy. The Times says the Axis claims are ‘‘wildly exaggerated.” —U.P.A.
