WANGANUI PATRIOTIC QUEEN CARNIVAL OBJECTIVE IS £9OOO, OR MORE The Wanganui Patriotic Queen Cat nival begins to-day and will continue until July 9. Its purpose is to raise 19000, or more, to complete the Wanganui zone quota towards th" All Purposes Patriotic Appeal Four queen candidates will compete. for the honour of being queen of the carnival—Miss 0. M. Marchant. (Nursing Services), Miss Margaret Brown (Air Force), Miss Adrienne Sutherland (Navy), and a candidate from the Northern Area chosen from among four princesses Io represent the Army—Mi.-s Thelma Taylor (Westmere). Miss Maigarvt Blair (Maxwell), Miss Patty Pearce (Waitotara), Miss Molly Walker (Wavcrley). This afternoon, in the lounge of Fosters Hotel, the queen candidates and princesses will be introduced at afternoon tea. Mr. H. M. Keesing, chairman of the Patriotic Committee, will preside, and the Mayor of Wanganui, Hon. W. J. Rogers, M.L.C., vid briefly ad’css the assembly on behalf of the Zone Committee.
