i MAUIAKLXO ZONE MEETING (Own Correspondent.) Last week's meeting of the executive committee of the Waimarino Zone “L” of the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council was held at the Raetihi Borough Council Chambers and presided over by His Worship the Mayor (Dr. W. J. Feltham). Also present were Messrs. H. F. Delamar (Mayor of Ohakune), S. Torepe, W. F. Mahony, D. J. Berry and the secretary (Mr. C. M. Turner). Apologies for non-attendance were received from Messrs. W. H. Sandford, A. Mabbott and I. V. A. Dobbie. The committee received with regret the resignation as the Ohakune R.S.A. delegate of Mr. J. H. Dobbie has been appointed as official delegate to I the executive committee in Mr. 1 Hardie's stead. Relief of Distress.—The secretary reported that an imprest of £5O had been obtained by the zone for rehabilitation and relief of distress on account of the war. This would be allocated £25 each to the two rehabilitation subcommittees which had been appointed by the executive in Ohakune and Raetihi. It was recommended that these committees should meet as soon as possible to formulate a policy for deal- 1 ing with the applications for relief. The secretary read two letters from the Waimarino R.S.A. dealing with representation on the rehabilitation committee and also the granting of assistance to dependants of members of the forces overseas. It was stated that cases requiring assistance had al-1 ready arisen in Raetihi and the R.S.A.' requested that the matter receive j early attention. These communications were referred to the Raetihi rehabilitation sub-committee. The secretary reported on the arrangements made for the supply of tins and handkerchiefs for gift parcels. The tins purchased in the first place were on the small side, but on considering the size of a further sample I received, which was too large, it was j left to the secretary to place an order for 20 dozen small glucose “D” tins.
