NGARAURU RED CROSS At the monthly meeting of the Ngarauru Maori Ladies Sub-Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society, held at Waitotara, the chairman, Mrs. Teakau Bennett, submitted her half yearly report to the committee, and briefly thanked members for their untiring efforts in connection with the various appeals and activities of the Red Cross. It was gratifying, she said, that the first concert held in Waverley in aid of the All Purposes Appeal was such a financial success. Following is the expenditure to date. —All Purposes Appeal, £3l 12s Od; soldiers overseas, £l5 15s. Od; soldiers comforts, £5; sun shields, £3; Red Cross (central branch), £5; Aotea Patriotic, £5 Is 9d; refrigerator, Invalid Hospital, Wellington, £1; total £66 8s 9d.

WAITOTARA PLUNKET SOCIETY The following is the report supplied by the Plunket nurse for January.— Babies under supervision, 28; preschool children, 16; there was one new case. Visits to homes, 43. On two days 10 adults and 9 children visited Plunket-rooms. FAREWELL EVENING A very enjoyable evening was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Leith, Orangimea, to farewell Mr. K. Neilson, prior to his departure for Levin Air Force Training Camp. Among those present were: Mr. and Mrs. J. Leith, Mr. Neilson, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Connor, Mr. and Mrs. Crawshaw, Misses M. Leith, McKnight, Messrs. Leith and O'Sullivan.
