The hurricane has killed hundreds o£ livestock throughout Spain and wrecked 200 houses in Sestao. In Viscaya it destroyed the village ot Trevijano, near Logrono and damaged the Burgos Cathedral, The damage in Portugal is estimated at 110,000,000. One estimate says there have been 500 deaths. The bean crop has been destroyed and orange groves flattened.

A hundred thousand olive trees were rooted up. In one small fishing port alone, 600 boals were dashed to pieces. The wrecks of larger ships are constantly reported along the coast.
