BREACHES OF TRAFFIC REGULATIONS YESTERDAY’S CASES (Own Correspondent.) MARTON, Feb. 19. "I have driven more than 450,000 miles, which is more than many men of my age have done, and this is the first time I have been before the Court,” said Tasman Anthony John Winwood, who pleaded guilty at a sitting of the Marton Court this afternoon, to driving a motor vehicle along Wellington Road without a current warrant of fitness. The traffic inspector, Mr. M. J. Hartigan, who prosecuted, said the warrant was six weeks overdue. Another had since been taken out. The magistrate fined defendant 20s, costs 10s.

For driving in a dangerous manner along Wellington Road, Charles Randolph Worsop was fined 30s, and costs Ils. The inspector said defendant was talking to a cyclist holding on to the side of the car, which was in motion. “There was no other traffic on the road at the time,” said Mr. Hartigan in reply to a question from the magistrate. D. Kinlock was fined 30s, costs 12s, for failing to keep to the left-hand side of the roadway. This offence resulted in Kinlock "brushing'' another motorist. On a similar charge Simon Cotton pleaded guilty by letter. The charge was a sequel to an accident at Porewa, when Cotton collided with a van driven by A. Coleman. A fine of 30s, costs 15s, was imposed. In these two cases Sergeant T. F. Brenchley prosecuted. Civil Cases. Judgment for plaintiff was given In the following undefended civil cases. Low’s, Ltd., v. costs 33s 6d; same v. Nero Kane, £2 3s 9d, costs 32s 6d; Watts and Lawdry Motors, Ltd., v. H. H. Cook, £9 7s lOd, costs 32s 6d; Low’s, Ltd., v Thomas, £2 10s 4d, costs 25s 6d. In a judgment summons case, N. G. Whale was ordered to pay Low’s, Ltd. £5 4s, costs 15s 6d, at the rate of £1 per month, default being fixed at seven days’ imprisonment.
