PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN’S GUILD. A meeting of ladies, convened by Mrs. Neilson, was held in the Parewanui Presbyterian Church on Friday, February 7. when a Women’s Guild was formed. Mrs. Crocket, assisted by the Rev. Crocket, conducted the meeting until the officers were elected, when the president assumed duties. The officers elected were:—President, Mrs J. H. Russell; vice-pre-sident, Mrs. H. Brown; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Harold Russell. It was decided to hold meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at members’ homes, the first meeting to be held at the president’s home at 2 p.m. on March 12. Ladies interested in the Guild are invited to attend. ANNUAL SPORTS MEETING. Mr. E. C. Jackson, hon. secretary, reports that arrangements are weil in hand for the Bulls-Ohakea Sports Club's 18th annual sports meeting, to be held on Bulls Domain on Saturday, February 22. Programmes have been distributed over a wide area, and good support has been promised by competitors. The track has benefited .greatly by the recent rains, and should be in first-class order on the day. The programme will commence with school events at 12.30 p.m., and running and cycling events will start at approximately 1 p.m. The usual novelty events will be staged during the afternoon. Hot water will be provided on the ground, and refreshments will be available. As advertised, entries close with the secretary, Mr. E. C. Jackson (’phone 101, Bulls) at 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 15. PATRIOTIC CARNIVAL. | The Patriotic Committee met this [ week, and excellent support was I forthcoming for the carnival, to be i held on the Domain on March 5. [ Stalls will be under control of the following:—R.S.A. ladies, sweets, ice cream and drinks; Bulls Women’s Institute, produce; Red Cross and St. John Ambulance ladies, sewing and cakes; Mrs. J. H. Russell and assistants, afternoon tea; Highland events. Mr. W. A. Sutherland; sports events, Messrs. W. J. Ellery and E. C. Jacksou- Numerous novelties will be provided for the children, and Padre Hart, of Ohakea aerodrome, will stage a minstrel show in the evening, when the Air Force Band will also attend. The carnival will conclude with a dance in the Town Hall. Further particulars will be published later.
