WOMAN FOUND INJURED IN WELLINGTON VICTIM OF AN ASSAULT INFORMATION SOUGHT BY POLICE.
I Per Press Association. J WELLINGTON, Jan. 12. Mrs. Marjory Livingstone Horton, 333 The Terrace, Wellington, who was found seriously injured at Oriental Bay on Thursday morning, died in hospital at 7 a.n>. to-day. The victim of an assault, Mrs. Horton, who was a middle-aged woman, was found unconscious on the beach below the seawall near Point Jerningham, Wellington. She was taken to hospital seriously ill with head injuries. The police are investigating. On Wednesday evening Mrs. Horton visited friends at Lower Hutt. She left to catch a bus for Wellington, leaving the corner of Waterloo Road and Witako Street, Lower Hutt, at 10.30 p.m. and arrived at the railway station, Wellington, at 11.15 p.m. A woman answering her description was seen by the bus driver to enter the bus, which gradually filled on the way to Wellington, and in consequence she was not seen alighting from the bus at Wellington, though it is presumed that she remained in the bus till it reached the city: The place where she was found is about 300 yards beyond the terminus of the Oriental Bay tram-line. Paths lead down to the beach from the road which, at that part, is not brightly lighted. There are no houses near. She was noticed by a man about 8.45 a.m. The police were informed and she was taken to hospital by ambulance. The police request that any person who may have seen Mrs. Horton on the bus. in the vicinity of the railway station at Wellington after the arrival of the bus at 11.15 p.m., or in the vicinity of Oriental Bay, communicate with the Detective Office, Wellington, without delay.
