RAETIHI NOTES
LAST MONTH’S RAINFALL Rain fell on eight days last month and, although in outside districts the pastures are burnt up, the Raetihi district is looking fresh and green. ‘This is probably accounted for by the rainfall on December 23 and 24, which aggregated 1.52 in. The following are the statistics for the month: 13th., ,23in.; 14th., .51in.; 15th.. .11; 17th., .04; 18th., .22; 21st., .15; 23rd., .93; 24th., .59. Total, 2.7 S inches.
PATRIOTIC FUND The following donations have been received towards the Patriotic Fund: Previously acknowledged, £266 4s lOd; sale of art union tickets, £2; per Messrs. Bott and Bell, £5 17s; Mrs. Wilton (Raetihi Women’s Institute), £1 4s 3d; Raetihi Progress League, £6 14s; A. E. Voelkerling, £2; Ohakune Convent Pupils’ Recital. £5; W. G. Slater (Rangataua School sale of work), £4 0s sd; W. G, Slater (Rangataua School raffle), £4; Miss J. Mabbott. 10s; Mr. A. Mabbott, £1; Mr. P. H. Wise, £1; Mr. R. Lilburne, £1; total, £3OO 10s 6d.
RAETIHI BOWLING CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING At a recent committee meeting of the Raetihi Bowling Club the following members were present: A. E. Urwin (president), D. P. Scarfe, C. D. Lynch, F. Soar, P. Powell, D. Eyes, and P. Stewart (secretary). It was agreed that the Ohakune return match be played on January 19. Keen discussion ensued regarding the championship games pairs and singles, and the defaulting players who have not played the games as arranged by the match committee. It was decided that the secretary interview the defaulters and explain the decision of the general committee. It was resolved that a committee meeting be held on January 12 to finalise the arrangement re defaulters in the pairs and singles. The match committee recommended that all section play in the singles, three games in the Williams Cup and three games in the junior singles, be played by January 31. New members were as follows: Messrs. F. Lawler (financial) and J. Mcßride (honorary).
