TAIHAPE The many friends of Mr. E. C. Stevens, Tangiwai, who underwent a major operation at the Huia Street Hospital, Taihape, six weeks ago, will be pleased to hear that he has recovered successfully and left the institution on Saturday for his home. RAETIHI Mr. and Mrs. N. Mosen have returned home from a holiday spent at the Mount, Tauranga. Mr. and Mrs. H. Bowater have i’eturned home from their summer vacation. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Turner and family have returned home from a holiday spent in Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. E. Cawthray have returned to New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Moore and family, Te Awamutu, are spending two weeks’ holiday in Raetihi. Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Giddy, New Plymouth, are spending a holiday with their daughter, Miss D. Giddy, Raetihi. Miss J. Lynch has arrived home after spending a holiday in Feilding. PATEA. Miss D. Haddow, who has been an inmate of the Patea Hospital, has returned home. MARTON. Mr. W. F. L. Ward, deputy-governor of the Reserve Bank, who is at present acting-governor of the bank, is a son of the late Judge Ward, who was at one time resident magistrate lor this district, and resided at Pukepapa Road, Marton. Mr. W. Ward is a cousin of Mr. K. Deighton, Marton. Mr. J. B. Thorp, who has been manager of the Marton branch of the Union Bank for the past ten years, has been promoted to the position of audit officer. His successor is Mr. G. G. Newall, Wairoa, who arrives to take over on January 27. Mr. Alex. McKenzie leaves Marton to-day to reside at Auckland. Mr. McKenzie, who celebrated his 84th birthday a few weeks ago, has been a resident of Marton since he was eight years of age
