FINE RECORD OF SERVICE SERVICE
Pupils at the Turakina Maori Girls' College, Marton, have been right behind the patriotic authorities in supplying needs for the soldiers. A survey of the work done was given by the principal, Miss E. M. Kinross, at the end-of-school year ceremony held on Friday afternoon It was explained that as the girls had occupied their spare time at patriotic work there was a smaller amount of fancy needlework than usual done during the year.
For patriotic purposes, said Miss Kinross, the pupils had made 66 pairs of mittens, 107 hussifs, 45 hospital feeders, 12 pairs of bed sox, nine balaclavas and six scarves for the fighting forces, and knitted 11 jerseys and 10 singlets and had made up to 17 other garments for the refugees. A great many of these, said Miss Kinross, had already been handed into the various patriotic committees.
