POTATO PRICES VERY LOW PUKEKOHE, Dec. 2. Ample supplies of new potatoes continue to be available at Pukekohe, and sales remain at the very low level of 6s per cwt. Fine weather has been experienced over the past few days, and the samples in many cases are particularly good; the price, however, is still well below cost to growers. The demand is fairly steady, but not nearly up to the average at this time of the year. The first of the new season’s green onions are now coming to hand. They are selling at 17s 6d a sugar bag. on rail. Pukekohe new season's carrots are at 7s 6d a sugar bag. Trade in green vegetables from Pukekohe is at present very slack, and quotations vary in accordance with the variations in city auction rates. Tomato plants are still selling from Pukekohe at 4s 6d a box of 50.
