BENEFICIAL RAINS
WELCOMED IN' AUSTRALIA. Received Dec. 3, 10.10 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 3. The metropolitan water supply has substantially benefited by soaking rain which began on Saturday and ceased only to-day, adding three months’ supply to the storage at all reservoirs. The entire coast as well as many inland centres, have had a thorough soaking, bringing relief to threequarters of the State. Useful rains have also fallen in Queensland and parts of Victoria, and South Australia.
