CONTENTS OF PARCELS FOR TROOPS

PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS NO PLUM PUDDINGS FRO& PRIVATE SOURCES NEEDED. OFFICIAL LIST OF ARTICLES. Advice has been received by the secretary of the Wanganui Zone Committee of the Wellington Patriotic Council, the town clerk, Mr. C. .R. While, that private individuals will not be required to provide plum puddings for the parcels which are to be distributed among members of the fighting services at Christmas time. Parcels for overseas will be received at the Wanganui City Council office up to September 11. Unaddressed parcels should include: A one-pound Christmas cake, pound of tinned chocolate, shortbread or ginger nuts (about a pound), small tin of New Zealand fruit (half a pound), and a handkerchief. All previous lists are to be disregarded. Christmas puddings will be provided by the Patriotic Co-mcil, 6100 being necessary for the Wellington district. Instead of one one-pound pudding in each parcel, one 10-pound pudding will be put in each case. Private individuals will not be required to provide puddings. The Wanganui zone quota of parcels will be 620. The parcels should be wrapped in strong brown paper or cloth for forwarding to Wellington, where they will be repacked for sending overseas. Parcels will not, however, be opened in Wellington. Private parcels sent to members of the forces by relatives and friends may be made up as the sender wishes and may contain any articles. It is not considered advisable, however, to send cigarettes or tobacco.
