PETROL RESTRICTIONS

Sir, —Has no one thought of restricting petrol within so many miles of j each city? Say, for instance all cars within four miles of the Wanganui' P.O. could be rationed <4 gallons for i small cars and 6 for big cars) and give ! the extra to the country cars. I am sure what with trams and buses running everywhere, it is hardly necessary for town people to use a rar while there is a shortage of benzine. The country people have to use their cars to get their stores, etc., and in lots of cases their mail. They haven’t dance halls and picture theatres at their doors and the} deserve more consideration than they ere getting at the present time. The farmer is expected to produce as much as possible and help is hard to get, and they will not go to farms where it is impossible for them to be able to get into town now and again. And what of the farmer and his wife: they should have some relaxation, and how can they have it on 6 and 8 gallons per month? Hoping some abler pen | than mine will take up this discussion. —I am, etc., “FARMER’S WIFE.”
