Meteorological Ollice, Wellington, Wednesday, August 14, 3 p.m. General Situation. —An extensive depression is moving eastwards across the Dominion and, although barometers are at present rising in the south, it is likely to be followed by a series of weak secondaries. Forecast.—Winds: Moderate to strong south-westerly over the South Island and a south-westerly change covering most of the country during the next 24 hours, directions later varying between northwest and south-west east of the mam ranges. Seas (New Zealand waters): Moderate north of Castle Point, rather rough elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong south-west to west winds and rough seas. Weather: Fair at first in eastern districts of the North Island, but weather for the most part changeable and showery, improving later in Canterbury and Marlborough. Temperatures becoming cooler with the advance of south-westerly change, and some light snow on the ranges.
