HUNTERVILLE EN FETE

Hunterville was the scene of unusual- activity on Saturday last, the occasion being the Rata Dairy Company’s annual meeting, while a football match was held on the Domain in the afternoon. Many country visitors were in town and found a very pleasant rendezvous at the Presbyterian Sunday School room, where the ladies of the guild were holding a social afternoon in aid of church funds. The result was esspecially gratifying to the promoters. A pleasing musical monologue was given by Mrs. C. Bowick, but unfortunately other performers were unable to attend owing to sickness, and apologies for non-attendance were read out by Rev. Brown. The competitions were judged by Mrs. Lyall and Mrs. Dukeson (knitting) and Mrs. T. A. Duncan and Miss Meads (cooking), and were placed as follows: Knitted scarf, Mrs. A. McDonald 1, Mrs. E. Craig 2 (five entries). Knitted bedsocks: Miss Meads 1, Mrs. Pitcaithly 2 (nine entries). Applie pie: Mrs. A. *’/. Craig 1, Miss Sharman 2 (six entries/. Madeira cake: Mrs. L. Lambert 1, Miss E. Lambert 2 (seventeen entries) Toffee: Russell McAlley 1, Joan Bull 2, Judith Bull 3 (eleven entries).
