CRITICISM WITHDRAWN
TARANAKI PLBLIC SERVANTS < OM MISSION ER’S REPORT i Per Association.! NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 1. "A perusal of the full report of the Public Service Commissioners statement to Parliament reveals that his remarks referred to the general division and not to the professional and clerical division. The earlier statement from this Taranaki section therefore, misrepresents the Commissioner, and is unreservedly withdrawn.” This was the declaration of Mr. J. F. Berry, chairman of the Taranaki Section of the Public Service Association. referring to an earlier statement expressing resentment at the Public Service Commissioner’s criticism in his report of the result of last year’s efficiency tests. "The contention of the Commissioner, however, that the New Zealand Public Service Association does not represent the true feeling of public servants generally in regard to the proposed efficiency tests, as far as far as Taranaki is concerned, is incorrect,” Mr. Berry said. “Opposition is even more forceful than when they were first proposed last year and the Taranaki section is united in its opposition, particularly during the war, and gives full support to the Wellington executive.”
