CUTTING OFF SUPPLIES TO CHINA
FURTHER JAPANESE OPERATIONS Received July 30, 9.50 p.m. HONGKONG, July 30. The Japanese forces, continuing the operation designed to close all ports through which war materials might reach the Chinese armies and guerillas, landed at Swabue at dawn. The Japanese also advanced inland and attacked Chinese holding the town of Chenhai. JUDGE ASSASSINATED Received July 30, 6.35 p.m. SHANGHAI, July 29. A District Court Judge, Chien Hongyeh, who was appointed by the Chungking Government, was assassinated to-day.
