Meteorological Office, Wellington, Thursday, April 25, 3 p.m. General Situation. —An anti-cyclone covers the North Island and the northern Tasman Sea and is separated by a trough of low pressure from a second anti-cyclone over southern Australia. Forecast.—Winds: From between north-west and south-west prevailing, mainly moderate or fresh in force, but later becoming strong in some exposed positions. Seas (New Zealand waters): Slight or moderate, but rising about Cook and Foxeaux Straits and south of Cape Egmont. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh winds from a westerly quarter with a change to southerly advancing from the south. Seas slight to moderate, but rising. Weather: Unsettled in western and southern areas of the South Island with occasional rain showers, also in western and northern areas of the North Island, but elsewhere fair to cloudy. Temperatures mild, but becoming cold again in the south.
